2024 Eastern Regional Results

Open Singes – Dan Zimet secured another championship at the Eastern Regional with a win in the Open Finals against Carlos Chavez. His consistency and serving were the keys to victory throughout the tournament. Leaving the court, Zimet stated he’s not sure how many titles he will continue to get in future, so each year the wins are even more special. However the rest of us know that Zimet will continue his dominance at the Regional for years to come.

Contenders Singles – Roger Berry made an incredible comeback to win the Contenders division in tiebreaker fashion. Greg Burns started off strong winning game 1, but Roger stepped on the gas in game two and ultimately won in tiebreaker. 11-2.

Open Doubles – Vincent Yam and Carter Kounovsky won the Open Doubles round robin in a highly competitive bracket where all teams had a least one loss. Yam’s powerful serve and play in the front court proved to be the difference in the team’s wins.

Contenders Doubles – Morgan Stevens and Dennis Pinigis sealed the victory winning all three matches in this round robin format. Ultimately the game that earned the championship was a thrilling tiebreaker win against Alan Frank and Larry Defauw; A back and forth match which Stevens and Pinigis prevailed 11-9 in tiebreaker.

Legends Doubles – Murzy Jhabvala and Ray Estevez prevailed in this division, fueled by an 11-10 tiebreaker win against runner ups Chuck Epstein and Keith Neihart. After losing game 1, the team was able to turn it around in the next game, winning 21-8, which led to a incredible tiebreaker win.

2024 No Frills Results

Adam and Dan Zimet were the favorite and they showed it. They played both consistent and smart handball throughout the tournament. In game 1 of the Open Finals, their serves proved to be too tough for both Carlos and Fernando to handle. Dan, with his deep placement and hop on his serve and Adam, with his signature reverse. In game two Carlos and Fernando came to life and showed a lot more energy and focus. They took a lead at the beginning and held onto it for most of the game, but the Zimet’s were close enough behind and eventually went on a run to win the match in two.

In the Master’s Division, Dan Ho and Eric Gunzleman ran away with the title, winning both matches in two games.
